Internal and External Condoms
A condom is a thin, fitted tube. Internal condoms are placed inside of the vagina or anus, and external condoms are worn over the penis before sex.
Condoms prevent pregnancies and STDs. They create a barrier that keeps semen and other body fluids out of the vagina, rectum, or mouth. You might hear it called a rubber or the barrier method.

How Does It Work?
External condoms are relatively easy to use. To put one on yourself:
-
Wait for your penis to become fully erect.
-
Carefully tear open the condom package.
-
Unroll the condom by about 1/2 inch.
-
Place the condom on your penis while pinching the tip of the condom to remove air and leave space for semen. This important step helps prevent the condom from breaking.
-
Roll the condom all the way down your penis.
-
Smooth out any air bubbles.
